All users should read and understand our Guidelines before they post.

By accessing “HCBC Forums” (hereinafter “we”, “us”, “our”, “HCBC Forums”, “”), you agree to be legally bound by the following terms. If you do not agree to be legally bound by all of the following terms then please do not access and/or use “HCBC Forums”. We may change these at any time, though it would be prudent to review this regularly yourself as your continued usage of “HCBC Forums” after changes mean you agree to be legally bound by these terms as they are updated and/or amended.

Board Rules

1. You’re responsible for what you say.

Horse Council BC, its staff, volunteers, and board members are not legally responsible for statements made in the forums.

This is a public forum viewed by a wide spectrum of people, so please be mindful of what you say and who might be reading it—details of personal disputes should be handled privately. While posters are legally responsible for their statements, the moderators do their best to maintain an overall productive and enjoyable atmosphere in the forums, though policing each post is impossible.

Outright inflammatory, vulgar, harassing, malicious or otherwise inappropriate statements and criminal charges unsubstantiated by a reputable news source or legal documentation will not be tolerated and will be dealt with at the discretion of the moderators. We advise users not to post your personal information such as phone numbers or email address in the body of your post.

2. Keep conversations productive, on topic and civil.

Discussion and disagreement are inevitable; personal insults, diatribes and sniping comments are unproductive and unacceptable. Whether a subject is light-hearted or serious, keep posts focused on the current topic and of general interest to other participants of that thread. Utilize the private message feature or personal email where appropriate to address side topics or personal issues. Negative comments on sales ads are prohibited.

You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-orientated or any other material that may violate any laws be it of your country, the country where “HCBC Forums” is hosted or International Law. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned, with notification of your Internet Service Provider if deemed required by us. The IP address of all posts are recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions. You agree that “HCBC Forums” have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should we see fit. As a user you agree to any information you have entered to being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent, neither “HCBC Forums” nor its software/service/hosting providers shall be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised.

3. No Business Advertising in the Free Sections

To post in FREE CLASSIFIED forum, you are limited to the sale of TWO (2) horses or ponies in a SIX (6) month period.

If you operate a BUSINESS which includes the sale of horses as a usual practice of your business, you must purchase an HCBC BUSINESS MEMBERSHIP and post in the BUSINESS forums.

If you produce, sell, or promote items for sale, regardless of your motive or profit, you are considered a business for the purpose of these forums.

The sale of puppies or litters of puppies is not allowed in the free section, you must be a business member.

Breeders, trainers, boarding stable owners (regardless of the number of stalls available) are considered businesses and may not post their business related posts in the free sections.

Hay sales are considered business postings.

Business’s that wish to post in any of the discussion threads are encouraged to post using their personal name, not their business name. You may need a second account to do so.

Negative comments on sales ads are forbidden and will be deleted without notice. Negative comments may also result in account deactivation.

4. Do not post copyrighted photographs unless you have purchased that photo.

5. Respect other users and the moderators.

If you see a post that you feel violates the rules of the board, please click the “report” button, which will alert ONLY the moderators to the post in question. They will then take whatever action is deemed appropriate for the situation. Do not air grievances regarding other posters or the moderators in the discussion forums.

Understand that the moderators exist to maintain a generally informative and enjoyable forum for the exchange of information on the horse world. While you may not always agree with their decisions, please respect that such actions are done in the best interest of the board, based upon a number of factors, not always readily apparent.

6. We reserve the right to enforce and amend the rules.

The moderators may delete, edit, move or close any post or thread at any time, and may suspend or revoke a user’s membership privileges at any time to maintain adherence to the rules and the general spirit of the forum. Account deactivation may happen without a warning. These rules may be amended at any time to address the current needs of the board.

The forums are a free service for the benefit of Horse Council BC Members.
