Boarding barn maintenance position
An equestrian center/cattle ranch located in Aldergrove is looking to hire a live-in ranch hand/maintenance person. The tasks and skills involved may include the following:
• Basic tractor operations such as roto-tilling, harrowing, manure spreading, mowing, snow plowing etc.
• Equipment operation (excavator. Articulated loader)
• Basic carpentry including fencing and general wood repairs.
• Basic mechanical maintenance of mowers, chain saws, weed eaters, tractors. trucks. tractor implements etc.
• Occasional horse handling and mucking
• Assisting in the management and handling of a small herd of cattle
• General labor such as yard work. power washing, firewood etc.
Customer service is an essential part of this position. The successful candidate must be friendly, considerate and effective in dealing with people and must keep a respectable appearance. As horses are involved, while the candidate need not be a horse expert, he or she must be comfortable around horses. Training in horse handling will be available. A farming background and a keen interest in horses would be definite assets.
This is a live-in position. The suite is appropriate for a couple or small family haveing 3 bedrooms and 2 baths.The three bedroom suite rents for $1500/month. Rent includes utilities but not phone or cable. Note, all interior spaces, suites included, are strictly none smoking.
This is a full time, long term opportunity. Only those with a long term interest will be considered.
As animal husbandry is involved, hours of work will be flexible at times and may include evenings, weekends and holidays. Generally though, typical hours of work will be 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM weekdays.
The management is interested in maintaining a community that works together as a team to meet the needs of their customers and the animals placed in their care. The successful candidate must be able to enthusiastically take their place in this team.
