Liberty workshop

Birgit Stutz
Created: April 10, 2018

With Birgit Stutz, Irwin Insights Level 4 Master Certified Trainer, Falling Star Ranch Academy of Foundational Horsemanship, Dunster, Saturday, May 5, 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Experience the magic of dancing with horses!
In this one-day workshop, Birgit will show you how she plays with her horses at liberty. Participants will learn what it really means to connect with your horse and the willing partnership that one can achieve when your horse truly trusts and respects you.
In its essence, liberty work is a dance between the trainer and the horse in which we allow the horse to express itself unrestrained and free from tack. Working with the horse in this manner offers us greater and more genuine insight into our true relationship with the horse by offering him the choice of leaving or staying with us to engage in “play.”
In doing so, we are able to strengthen this crucial bond in a way that is naturally enjoyable for our horses, and this will translate to all other areas of our work with our horses, from general handling to riding.
Using an understanding of horse psychology, equine body language and biomechanics, Birgit will teach you how to understand your horse and create the ultimate partnership in which your horses willingly follow and take directions from you, without the use of treats to bribe the horse into performing.
This workshop is suitable for all levels of riders and horse handlers, from experienced horse people to people who have never worked with horses before. There is something to learn for everybody.
This workshop doesn't include any riding. Falling Star Ranch horses will be provided. $100 per person. Auditors are welcome at $25 per person. Contact Birgit at 250-968-6801 or by email at [email protected] for more information or to register.
