Hi Jennifer. I used to ride up Bby Mtn all the time from BHA. It was a good days ride. I'm not sure if all the trails are there anymore but I can tell you how I went. I used to ride down Government Rd to the old train tracks that go into the industrial park, Followed the tracks under Lougheed Hwy and turned up and followed the creek. There is an access road there. I see on Google Earth there is now a park where I used to ride but I'm sure you can follow the sidewalk if you stay on the side and respect the neighbourhood. Once I got onto the access road, I followed it up to Garibaldi Way. From there I had to do somemore road riding along Garibaldi until I got to the hogfuel trail that took me up to the power line. That was over 25 yrs ago but I can still see the trail from google earth. It looks like it's more marked out now. Once I got up the powerline I would ride the back trail to the university. Back then it wasn't well looked after and some of the bridges where scary!! Then I would ride down the boulevard on Garibaldi Way and wind my way back down through the industrial park back to BHA. I was a bit of an adverturer LOL. I always wrote on the blackboard where I was going and my ETA. Sometimes I would be gone 8 hours. There used to be a way to get onto the powerline with a vehicle from the Coquitlam side. Google Earth rocks! You may be able to find it from that. Good luck! and happy riding :) Please remember to be respectful to your fellow hikers and set a good example for all of use horseback riders :) :)

Does any one know how to get to the trail on Burnaby Mountain? "Power Line Trail" is apparently multi-use for horses, bikes and pedestrians, but there appears to be no trailer parking and it does not connect up with the trails at Burnaby Lake.

I grew up riding those trails at the end of Burnaby Lake. The noise from the highway isn't that bad, the horses get used to it. The main concern is, some of the trails are built on marsh and under no circumstances should you ride your horse off the trail. Other than that, the trails are gorgeous!!!! loved them, miss them.

You don't have to ride down the Highway section of the trail. The loops near the Burnaby Equestrian Centre are in a wooded area away from the highway.
