The Silver/Skagit Road, which joins Highway #1 three kilometres west of Hope, provides access to Skagit Park and Whitworth Horse Camp. Take Highway #1 to the Silver Hope Creek Exit #168 to access the Flood Hope Road. Turn onto Silver Skagit Road and travel 56km south on good gravel road to reach Whitworth Horsecamp. ( It is 37 km from Highway #1 to the Skagit Park entrance portal and a further 23 km to Ross Lake Reservoir and the Canada-USA border.) The Silver/Skagit Road is a well maintained, loose surface road that provides access to several active logging areas before the Park entrance. Motorists are advised to drive with extreme caution and to use headlights at all times. Watch for wildlife and be aware of logging trucks and other industrial equipment. Extra caution should be taken after rain when road surfaces can become muddy and slippery. Whitworth Horse Camp is located approx. 56km south of Silver Creek on the Silver Skagit Rd.

This camp is closed until further notice due to the Silver Skagit road being washed out by the Atmospheric river in the fall of 2021

Went to Whitworth last weekend in Skagit Valley. Corrals are awesome but some important info. I went up on Thursday to be assured of a corral. Didn't need to. Apparently the camp rarely gets used. So...because the camp doesn't get used they have it opened up to everyone. You don't need a horse. That would pose a bit of a problem if you went up there to use a corral and there were none. The road is good but of course no one would like to drag a trailer up 54km for nothing. There aren't allot of trails around there. Couldn't cross the river-to high and the Skyline trail, about 3/4 (I think) of the way up is blocked. We managed to skirt a tree at the bottom. Went to Ross lake-took about 45 min riding up the road. Very pretty. The park guys were really nice and would try to accommodate your requests. They brought us firewood. Bugs were a bit bad but with good spray they didn't stay around. Really bad at the bottom of the mountain at the first campsite! (Non-horse) Again, They did a great job of the corrals!!!!! Cathie
