Information regarding equestrian use has been requested. The Grey Canal Trail is a interpretive trail along a historic irrigation canal in the north east part of Vernon.

Grey Canal Historic Trail a) Silver Star Road to Glenhayes Road The parking lot is located off Blackcomb Way which 1.5 km past BX School, then turn left onto Blackcomb Way, go 100 meters, the parking lot is under the hydro lines. The full length of the Grey Canal Trail is 4.8 km one way, ending at Glenhayes Rd. Return by the same route to the parking area off Blackcomb Way. There are also access points to the trail where the trail crosses Rugg Road, McLennan Rd. and at Glenhayes Rd. There is parking for 8 vehicles at McLennan Rd. and Rugg Road and 2 vehicles at Glenhayes Rd. This is a gently undulating trail with magnificent valley views. Interpretive signs offer some insight into the historic Grey Canal irrigation system. b) Coldstream Valley Estates There is a small parking area at the north end of Cypress Drive. From this point one option is to follow the trail north, the trail goes across crown land, you return on the same path (0.9 kms one way). The trail is relatively steep. The second option is to go southeast, walking along the edge of the road (Cypress Drive). Just past Upland Drive (watch for the signs), the trail goes off road, follow the trail which crosses Cypress Drive and continue to Coldstream Ranch property, return following the same route (1.7 kms one way). At the east end of the trail you can follow the fence line north to access the grasslands above. c) East Vernon (this trail will be available by July 1st, 2009) Access the trail off DeRoo Road. Some sections of the trail are along roadways. Follow the signs to Hartnell Road, to Dixon Dam Road, walk along Dixon Dam Road to Maddock Road, to Curlew Road, then Malim Road. Follow Malim Road west to BX Creek where the trail terminates. Total trail length is 3.4 kms. d) Turtle Mountain Go west on 39th Avenue to the entrance of the Turtle Mountain subdivision. There are parking lots on each side of the road at the entrance to the subdivision. From the parking lots hikers can follow the Grey Canal Trail north for 0.7 kms. or west for 0.5 kms. The north section of the trail contains sections of boardwalk. You can also follow the short trail to Rocky Ridge Park, an outstanding view point. e) Section Below The Rise Follow Bella Vista Drive to Okanagan Hills Boulevard turn right onto Vineyard Way. There is a small parking lot at the end of the street on the right. Follow signs to the trail where you can go west for 0.3 kms. or east for 1.2 kms. This trail provides excellent views of Okanagan Landing.
