Tweedsmuir Provincial Park

Tweedsmuir South Provincial Park is one of the largest of B.C.s several hundred parks. Located in the wester Chilcotin Region. 400 km west of Williams Lake between Anaheim Lake and Bella Coola. Park check with BC Parks regarding trail conditions, public access to cabins, current and previous forest fires that may affect your trip.

Creeks and streams
In designated campsites only. Keep trailheads free of hay and manure. Pack in weed-free grain or pellets. Octopus Lake Horse Camp is on the opposite side of the trail 1 km to the west of the lakeshore. Check the map for designated sites.

The primary access for horses going into Tweedsmuir South Prov. Park is the Rainbow Range trailhead, which is on Hwy 20, 35 km west of Anaheim Lake. and 350 km west of Williams Lake. The highway from Williams Lake consists of both gravel and paved sections and is well maintained; travel time is between 4 1/2 and 6 hours depending on your destination within the park and road conditions. The Hill is the stretch of Highway 20 between Heckman Pass and Atnarko Campground. It is not suitable for horses and is not recommended for hauling horses down to Bella Coola.
