Gilpin Grasslands Provincial Park

Day Ride Trail
Located 9 km east of Grand forks, and encompasses the grassland hills on the north side, and Kettle River on the South side of Hwy 3. The lower slopes are conducive to small numbers of horseback riders. Please stay on established trails. Park and unload trailers on the Gilpin FSR. This is an easy there and back trail with beautiful open country. This park was designated to protect a distinctive grassland ecosystem and maintain essential habitat for known blue provincially listed species-at-risk, including blue listed bighorn sheep.

From the staging area ride up Gilpin FSR then after 300 m, turn right onto the signed "Larry's Trail" (Also labeled Bundschu Trail) Unauthorized motor vehicles are not allowed inside of the park. Stay Safe : Hunters please be aware of recreational park visitors, and visitors please wear bright coloured clothing during hunting season, and be aware of Rattlesnakes and other wildlife. Please take your garbage with you when you leave. For more information and important visitors notices visit the BC Parks website .

The turn-off onto Gilpin Forest Service Road (FSR) from Highway 3 sneaks up and is easy to miss! Coming from Christina Lake and heading West, reset your odometer at the junction of Hwy 3 and Highway 395 then drive exactly 10 km West. Cross a cattle gate and drive 0.7km up Gilpikn FSR to reach the large parking area on the right with an outhouse and signs. This road is suitable for 2WD low clearance vehicles.
