Kearsley Creek Equestrian Campsite - Stave West

Horse Camping Site
A new and exciting project with camping and corrals just completed - 8 camping sites with double corrals each
Mission / Maple Ridge
trails still need to be mapped and some new construction
49.29219
-122.3344
water is available at Kearsley Creek - at this time BCHBC is working on a small trailer and 250 gallon tote that the camp host has agreed to fill and bring to the site
there will be day parking down by the river/lake - at this time the area is rough but gravel
8 gravel sites of various size -each has a double 12x12 crusher dust corral to accommodate 2 horses - new outhouse - camp host site right next door - most sites have a fire ring - picnic tables are not installed yet - these are back in sites - no pull thrus - limited signage at this time - manure to be placed in the 'manure parking' spot next to the first site when you drive in
waiting on information as to contact number or email for the camp host to check for occupancy - at this time the rate is 15.00 per site per night including horses - PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS AREA HAS BEEN A FREE WHEELING AREA FOR ATV'S AND 4 WHEEL DRIVES FOR A LONG TIME - it has had a wild west reputation for a long time and that is now changing with the many campsites and work that Rec Sites and Trails and the District of Mission have done. As no trails are marked yet - please get along with other user types - the potential for this area is so great - also please do not ride into the regular camp site areas - you can head down to the water and along the water front in both directions and mostly to the left there are lots of trails that cross each other from off roaders - if you head back out of the campground and turn to the right and across the bridge apparently there is an old logging road to the left that goes up to a view point - we need people to get out and gps this area!!
Note: Also check under Upload/Download tab to see if there are more maps available. If the map below shows red lines, these indicate ridable trails which can be downloaded to your GPS (see Upload/Download tab)
This camp is approx 9.3 kms up Burma road - just past the Zajac ranch - keep to the left when you see the ranch sign - road is gravel and there are single lane bridges and road can be rough so be prepared for some washboard and dust - you will see the new Rec Site sign Kearsley Creek Camp Ground.

Trails at the moment are unmarked. There is the beach to ride which connects to trails on both sides of the camp road. The Stave West Leadership Team is working with user groups and RSTBC to come up with a trails plan.

I believe that there will be a $2/per horse corral/night fee as well as the $15 camping fee. This is to cover maintenance costs of the corral, manure handling and non-potable horse water delivery.
