Silver king Basin Trail - Babine Mountains Park

Back Country Trail
Silver King Basin is a 18.0 kilometer round trip, multi use Back Country trail. The trail is an old mining road following an easy grade for most of the way emerging into the basin after 7 km. The Joe L'Orsa Cabin is reached at 8.5 km and the trail continues to the abandoned Silver King Mine. Horses are permitted on the Harvey Mountain Trail, Onion Mountain Trail, Cronin creek Trail within the Babine Mountains Provincial Park. BC parks parking lot in Babine Provincial Park. Lots of room for trailers, especially on weekdays
the Joe L'Orsa Cabin is located in the Silver Creek Basin. There is a $10/night fee and the cabin is on a first come first served basis. Corrals are provided. Horses must be kept in the corrals or tied to the hitching post at the tack shed. They should not be tied to trees or free ranged with hobbles. From Smithers head South-East on Highway BC-16E for 6.3 km. Turn left onto Babine Lake Road and continue North for 38.4 km. Take a slight left onto Upper Fulton (3000) Forest Service Road, continue 12 km before turning left onto the 312 road, marked by blue BC Parks directional signage. Parking lot and trailhead is found 800 m up the 312 road.
