Salmon Brewster Trail Corridor

Back Country Trail
The Salmon Brewster Trail Corridor is a 43 km non-motorized route connecting Memekay, Pine Marten, and Brewster horse camps. The trail follows old railway grades, wildlife paths, rivers, and historic roads through rugged wilderness. Suitable for all riders, with some more challenging sections, the trail includes varied footing and river crossings. The corridor is under remediation through 2025—check the Back Country Horsemen – North Vancouver Island Chapter Facebook page for updates. Maps are available in the Upload/Download tab and on the Avenza Maps app. Managed by the Back Country Horsemen of BC – North Vancouver Island Chapter. The trail corridor was constructed to join the three horse campsites. Memekay campsite is on the north end nearest Highway 19, Pine Marten is a wilderness site located to the south and the last campsite is located at Brewster Lake. See each campsite record in this database.
Riding the Salmon Brewster Trail corridor requires an experienced horse and rider, go slow and be aware of your footing. Be wildlife aware. Information on Memekey, Pine Marten and Brewster camps have their own campsite records in the database.

This trail corridor can be accessed from all of the three campsites noted under Camping Notes. Directions to the campsites are located under each database entry.The campsites and trails are within a working forest. You may encounter logging traffic on the roads from 5:00 am to 6:00 pm, 7-days-a-week.
