Rainbow Range Trailhead

Trail Network
A multitude of trails provide access to some of Tweedsmuir's most notable features. Recreational horse use is permissible in the Rainbow Range. This terrain is recommended for experienced riders only (see the Rainbow Range map, which has trails suitable for horses marked as such). Tweedsmuir (South) Provincial Park is one of the largest of B.C.'s several hundred parks. Located in the west-central region of the province, 480 km northwest of Vancouver as the crow flies, As in any wilderness setting, persons should be prepared to be self-sufficient. For those new to the wilderness adventure tour, guides are available in the area. Recommend Tania Millen's book Pack em Up, Ride em Out. Where she describes a 3 or 6 day pack trip.

Rainbow Range Trail allows for a quick access to the alpine area. From the Rainbow Range trailhead, it's worth doing a day trip along the 7 km (one way) Rainbow Range Trail. The trail starts in burnt lodgepole pine forest and gains approximately 300 m in elevation before reaching a small alpine lake where there are extensive views of the Rainbow Range. Return to the trailhead on the same trail.
