Horse Camping Site
The newly developed Campground was opened in 2023 and is adjacent to the extensive Belle Mountain Equine trails. This recreation site provides persons travelling with their horses an opportunity to stay overnight up to 14 nights, explore the Belle Mtn trails and the other nearby trails Robson Valley has to offer. The site and trails are maintained by Back country Horsemen - Robson Valley Chapter through a Partnership Agreement with Rec sites & Trails BC.

On the trails water is from: Creeks, In the McIntosh Equine Camp there is nonpotable water for horses only from a pump.
P1 on trail map - can accommodate 3 rigs; P2 on map is small gravel pit can accommodate 3 rigs, P3 on map can accommodate many large rigs. The parking areas within the McIntosh Equine Camp at the gravel pit and on the roads can also accommodate many rigs. Please don't park in the campsites for day use.
NO RESERVATIONS, FIRST COME BASIS, 14 DAY MAXIMUM STAY., SELF REGISTER AT KITCHEN SHELTER. There is no camping fees, donations are welcome. This is a 16 site Equine Campground and Recreation site. 11 of the sites have a minimum 2 corals at each site but some sites can accommodate larger groups with up to 8 horses. There is a fire ring at each site (please bring own firewood), 4 outhouses (one handicapped), and a picnic shelter. Equine users must arrive self sufficient with domestic potable water, hay, firewood etc. No highlining due to delicate moss ecosystem ground cover.. All sites are large enough to accommodate any size of horse rig. There is a large kitchen shelter with wood stove and communal fire pit (Please do not cut trees or remove downed trees). Rough trails are cut between the campsites and the kitchen shelter. Please remain on the trails and do not tread on the delicate moss.
The trail network extends from the river valley to the alpine and the opening dates fluctuate based on the previous season snow accumulations: The lower river valley trails are usually free of snow by May. The Mid Mountain trails and campground are usually dry by the mid to end of May . The higher alpine trails can keep their snow until the end of June. It is best to contact someone from the Robson Valley before planning an early season trip. Contact: Robson Valley Chapter at: [email protected] for most up to date info. There are 4 access points from Hwy 16 West. P1 is located at km 0 on the Dore River Forest Service Road at the top end of the paved Dore River Road (Turn south off Highway 16 approx. 4km west of McBride off of Highway 16). P2 and P3 are accessed from the Belle Forest Service Road - turn south off Highway 16 8km west of McBride. P2 is located 3km up the Belle Mountain Road/Forest Service Road, P3 is located 4.5 km up the Belle Mountain Road/ Forest Service Road. The campground is on McIntosh Road.
